Remember this story? I posted something about a small group of military members opposing President Obama’s eligibility as CNC back in February. It appears they have resurfaced and oddly haven’t garnered much sympathy from Obama detractors (generally and sanely speaking).
A U.S. Army Reserve major from Florida scheduled to report for deployment to Afghanistan within days has had his military orders revoked after arguing he should not be required to serve under a president who has not proven his eligibility for office.
His attorney, Orly Taitz, confirmed to WND the military has rescinded his impending deployment orders.
“We won! We won before we even arrived,” she said with excitement. “It means that the military has nothing to show for Obama. It means that the military has directly responded by saying Obama is illegitimate – and they cannot fight it. Therefore, they are revoking the order!”
It is hard to believe this will make any difference in anything regarding the supposed birth place controversy. However, it is likely to directly effect their careers and personal life. I am sure they are aware of the consequences even if they don’t seem to care. Secondly, I wouldn’t rush out and call the fact that the orders were revoked a, “victory.” The Army may have wanted to remove a possible discipline and morale problem from the unit. Keeping him stateside will make it easier to drop the hammer on him if and when the time comes.
The writers of the World Net Daily article should consider military discipline and the rules and regulations that govern them. Personally, he and his lawyer sound clueless and the news doesn’t sound anything like a victory. But only the first step to a very painful process for Major Stefan Frederick Cook.
Confederate Yankee covers that thought nicely,
Because if the Pentagon allows soldiers to simply declare Obama an an illegitimate Command in Chief—as the article would have you believe—it would seem to set a precedent that would lead to chaos in the military, allowing service members to question all orders for the executive branch. It would be anarchy.
Update: Sanity Injection adds some weight to the issue with, “Dear Major Cook: Shut up and fight.“ Heck, while your at it be sure to read, F*** the rich
Apaprently, that’s the new motto of the Democrats in the House of Representatives. Their newly unveiled health care expansion bill proposes to pay for its $1.2 trillion cost primarily by way of a new surtax (surtax means, “on top of all the other taxes they already pay”) of between 1 and 5.4% on those who earn more than $350,000 annually.

I beat you to the punch on this one:
http://sanityinjection.wordpress.com/2009/07/14/dear-major-cook-shut-up-and-fight/
I don’t really see this as being about Obama at all. Rather, it’s about whether an soldier is free to disobey his orders based on his personal interpretation of constitutional matters that are, as the President once said, above his pay grade. That’s no way to run a military, as Confederate Yankee points out.

Duly noted, Sanity. Thanks for the link!

agree with sanityinjection comment 1. and mostly with the article.
Federal court is the wrong forum or venue. The Constitution leaves it to the Electoral College to select the POTUS. And for the Congress to impeach.
If those things were to be done by soldiers or judges they should have worded it that way.
And the suit was too cute anyway. Cook didn’t have to go, he volunteered.
To find merit in the case you must first assume that O is not CIC. Then you must also assume no one else can issue this order either. Thus the entire military chain of command has no meaning at this moment. Nor can any valid order be issued until O is replaced.
“moot” is exactly the right reason for dismissal. The orders have been canceled. It made no sense to hear the case.
Those who think O is not natural born won’t get anywhere by trying to nullify military discipline. I suspect they won’t get anywhere anyway.
Opinions about O are simply too polarized. Both sides will do whatever it takes to win. That means nothing can be trusted. Too bad, I would like it otherwise.
I will be suspicious of any BC Obama now presents, or the state of Hawaii vouches for. And I will be just as suspicious of documents or proof from his opponents.

K, thanks for stopping by again. I always enjoy your comments.
I especially agree with what you said, “Opinions about O are simply too polarized. Both sides will do whatever it takes to win. That means nothing can be trusted. Too bad, I would like it otherwise.
I will be suspicious of any BC Obama now presents, or the state of Hawaii vouches for. And I will be just as suspicious of documents or proof from his opponents.”
I think that sums up this whole mess nicely. Obama is losing elsewhere and where it matters most — with the American people. His poll numbers are on steady decline and a clear pattern is emerging.

Jason: Thanks for the kind words. IMO it is not only politics about O and that BC which has become insane.
Perhaps there really is a “tipping point” in civility and social coherence and we are there.
The level of rationality in online discussions is depressing. Sometimes the mildest of remarks, or any expression of doubt in the absence of evidence, is greeted with a fury seldom matched since Cromwell put down the rebellion in Ireland.
In my experience that doesn’t happen here.
I agree that O is rapidly losing support. On the evening of election day I told my daughter I still had no idea what he actually wanted – other than to be POTUS – or his abilities. But we were sure going to find out.
Nine months later I wish I hadn’t found out.

Whenever I get overwhelmed by the stealth destruction being perpetrated by congress and the O Admin. (about all the time) I go on a hope search mission to see if there is a surge if soldiers refusing to fight or deploy. I strongly feel that this may be the only hope left for America… wars will end when soldiers refuse to kill.
What is a “just” war anyway? Seems they all “just” make money for the shadow figures.
Peace, love, TRUTH and mercy… pass it on.
sanityinjection // July 17, 2009 at 8:43 am
wanda – But how do you get the other side’s soldiers to refuse to kill? You know, the ones who think that if they martyr themselves for their faith there will be a bazillion virgins waiting for them in Paradise? Your philosophy would be noble in a world where everyone plays by the same rules. But we live in a world with people who play by no rules at all.
If the good refuse to fight, then the world is lost to evil.

One of the biggest Israeli propaganda myths is the invention of 72 virgins as a Muslim reward for suicide. This has been repeated to the western world so often that most people accept it as fact. The media grooms us to see the Jews as eternal victims and consequently, there cannot be anything wrong with the Israelis.
It was not long ago that all of the senate and all but 5 members of the house voted for Israel’s right to protect itself from unarmed women and babies. Palestinians using children for human shields is a fine example of the sick and twisted minds that are actually controlling the show and we cannot claim to be intelligent if we continue to put faith in our congressional “leaders” at the expense of our own common sense.
We have been looted by our government and the media who set us up with a false economy for years. There are too many instances where have we finally get an acknowledgement from the media about the truth in this or that that is long after the fact, when they are no longer in a position to deny the facts? We now have a President who has spent over a million dollars to avoid showing college records, marriage certificates and a certificate of live birth… who does that if they’re not hiding something?
When public opinion is serially ignored, the public goes elsewhere for its information. What is being found out is that we don’t even know what we think we do… it’s all been one big lie at our expense.
sanityinjection // July 17, 2009 at 11:33 am
Last time I checked we were talking about the war in Afghanistan which has nothing to do with Israel. Generally, people who feel the need to drag Israel into every discussion are usually conspiracy theorists who think the Jews are running the world.
You suggest that we cannot believe anything our government tells us about the wars we are fighting because everything we hear in the media is a lie. Yet somehow, you seem to have managed to form some strong opinions, so you must be believing information you are getting from somewhere. If everybody is lying, how do you know the sources you are listening to are telling the truth?
Nevertheless, you have avoided addressing my essential critique of pacifism as a national policy.
Red Spy // July 17, 2009 at 11:44 am
Like…if we all stop fighting…then everyone will live forever and stuff…
Wanda, in a very, very general way some of what you said has truth to it. Though I’m not sure what you mean by dragging Israel and the Jews into it.
sanityinjection // July 17, 2009 at 11:44 am
Oh, and as for the 72 virgins idea being “Israeli propaganda”:
“The smallest reward for the people of Heaven is an abode where there are eighty thousand servants and seventy two wives.” This is from a hadith published in the 9th century AD by Al-Tirmidhi. Since Israel did not exist in the 9th century AD, you will have a hard time laying this one on the Jews.
Although the saying is of dubious authenticity and not taken very seriously by mainstream Islamic scholars, the fasadis are not mainstream and have absolutely cited this and other questionable hadiths in recruiting terrorists.
Let me know if you want to play some more
Red Spy // July 17, 2009 at 11:47 am
Sanity? Do you go around with it in your pocket? Haha..
I was of the understanding that the virgin thing was fact and a belief widely held in the Muslim world.

this is bad for the military and sets a bad precedence or good order and discipline. That issue is up for the courts, congress and the American people. I can certainly sympathize with the soldier and probably share his opinion on Obama. I do believe their is some truth and principle to his stand but in the end it isn’t his place.
Then again it usually takes someone hardheaded and defiant to get others to think.
wanda // July 17, 2009 at 11:56 am
Since it was less than one minute since I posted my response that you responded, I have to assume that you knew in advance what your response was and certainly you are more intent on taking down my points than in finding out the truths for yourself or allowing others to find their truths as well.
How do you know my sources are not lying? The mainstream media has proven to be liars time and time again… and our government is renegade. I now form my opinions through thorough research from many, many sources. I no longer have faith in D.C. to do the right thing for americans or the media to report the facts or to do it without bias. My country labels Iraqi vets and even myself as a terrorist for expressing my displeasure and that reinforces my lack of faith and distrust.
That you come out in attack at me for being against FIGHTING is good enough indication that you cannot be argued with because you, for some reason, are invested in this pathology. I will not waste any further time trying to break down your hate because it is not about truths or justice or fairness with people like you it is about keeping the bloodlust going.
As to the moniker sanityinjection… it is no different than patriot act or clean air act or any other type label that sounds nice but really isn’t.
Red Spy // July 17, 2009 at 12:08 pm
Way to go Sanity. You ran another one off. I guess it is just us again.
Funny thing about Wanda is that aside from her pacifist views, she doesn’t seem that out of step with most of our thinking. Then again, I did pick up some Jewish conspiracy nonsense.
wanda // July 17, 2009 at 12:49 pm
I am back… because I need to state that I am late to the game as it concerns the Middle East conflicts. I am a product of the mainstream media’s efforts to keep the general public ignorant and malinformed. I will only speak for myself and say that I am guilty of ignorance but also that I am catching on fast. I don’t think I am alone.
At the end of the day, people everywhere are the same. We want only to be allowed to make our livings and raise families and be left alone. We (no matter which country you are from) are never the ones who profit from war and always the ones who lose. The ones who put out the lies use any and all means to convince us we have a mighty and righteous cause to kill for when in actuality it is all about taking someone elses natural assets and depopulation and the same puppet masters have been in charge for centuries.
Soldiers refusing to kill for an unjust cause is a universal action, not one unique to Americans and it is gaining ground. We cannot hope to change Washington… it is either under seige or full of treasonists and we may not get to know what is going on years. Our hope and power lies in not delivering them any more souls to destroy. They will not do the dirty work themselves.
If it takes laying down arms on the battlefield or refusing to deploy I cannot say and it is not for me to say. It is up to the individual to decide what they can or can no longer abide with. For we the citizens of everywhere now facing destruction, we only pray your decision to refuse to kill comes in time for us.
Mike // July 17, 2009 at 1:17 pm
Oooooh Jason you had to go open up this can of worms.
I heard about this yesterday from a co-worker and my jaw dropped to the ground when he told me they canceled the Major’s orders to deploy.
I have to agree with Confederate Yankee and Sanity. This enters into the realm of disturbing the good order and discipline of the military. Thereby destroying unit cohesiveness, readiness, and mission completion.
Obama isn’t going to be President forever, unless the conspiracy theorists are correct (Ha!), and the Maj. just needs to suck it up. Our side lost, their side won.
By trying to invoke this ridiculous idea that Obama is somehow an Indonesian citizen or a Manchurian candidate turned President is utterly incomprehensible. I don’t understand what he thinks he will accomplish with all of this except the end of his military career.
And to Wanda, as Edmund Burke once said, “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.”
Red Spy // July 17, 2009 at 1:25 pm
Wanda, i appreciate your candor, passion, and honestly. I know them when I see them.
Keep staying on top of things.
sanityinjection // July 17, 2009 at 3:32 pm
Red Spy – It may well be widely held – Wikipedia compared it to the traditional Christian idea of Heaven being a place with winged angels playing harps.
wanda – There’s no denying that the type of thing you are talking about has occurred numerous times in the past in many countries. In the US I think of the Mexican-American and Spanish-American wars as examples of the public being herded into war under less than honest circumstances.
Nevertheless, you would mash up all wars together under the same heading which I think is intellectually lazy and practically foolish. Had the US followed your philosophy in the 1940s, we’d all be speaking German or Japanese now, and you can be sure that you wouldn’t have the freedom to express your ideas as you are now doing. That alone should give you cause to rethink.
Despite your cynical insistence that governments can’t be trusted, there are causes worth fighting for in this world. It is always sad when people lose their lives because of political conflicts, but you argue that those sacrifices were pointless, and I don’t agree.
A certain amount of skepticism is healthy, but if taken too far it becomes a sort of intellectual cowardice in which one refuses to believe in any one or anything for fear of being disillusioned.
